Wimbledon Betting Odds: Kyrgios given title backing

Novak Djokovic proved to be the pantomime villain on Friday as he ended British number one Cameron Norrie’s (50/1 US Open Outright) hopes of winning a first Grand Slam at the semi-final stage of Wimbledon.

Aiming to reach his first Grand Slam final, Norrie made the perfect start on a packed Centre Court at the All England Club by winning the first set 6-2 in what was a dominant openingto the match.

However, his Serbian opponent, who is looking to win Wimbledon for the seventh time, upped his game from that point onwards and managed to run out a 2-6 6-3 6-2 6-4 winner, advancing into his eighth final at SW19.

Djokovic will now take on Australian Nick Kyrgios in Sunday’s final and the defending champion is expecting a barnstorming contest between the two fiery characters.

He told the BBC: “The job is not finished. One thing is for sure there are going to be a lot of fireworks emotionally from both. It’s going to be his first Grand Slam final. Obviously he’s very excited and he doesn’t have much to lose.

“He’s playing so freely. He has one of the biggest serves in the game. We haven’t played for some time. I’ve never won a set off him. Hopefully it can be different this time. It’s another final for me at Wimbledon so hopefully the experience can work in my favour.”

Speaking about the performance of Norrie, Djokovic added: “Cameron didn’t have much to lose. I wish him all the best. He’s a great player. I have a lot of respect for him.”

Djokovic is the 1/5 favourite to win Sunday’s finale, while Kyrgios can be backed at 10/3 to win his first Grand Slam title.
