Nations League Odds: Hungary eyeing Italy upset

Page to adopt "common-sense" approach

Hungary head coach Marco Rossi insists his side will give “everything” when they face Italy in the Nations League on Tuesday (Match betting – Italy 9/20, Draw 16/5, Hungary 7/1).

After winning promotion to League A ahead of the 2022/23 campaign, Hungary find themselves in a very tough-looking group alongside England (9/1 Nations League outright), Italy (9/1) and Germany (7/1).

That’s nothing new for the Magyars, though, having exited Euro 2020 with huge credit after putting up strong performances against Portugal (6/1 Nations League outright), France (6/1) and Germany.

They stunned England, earning a 1-0 win, in their opening Nations League game of this campaign on Saturday and now have their sights set on another upset when they travel to Italy on Tuesday.

Head coach Rossi said: “We are fine, the boys have recovered well. Clearly, when there is so little time you don’t train and only do recovery work. However, from the various tests it seems the boys have recovered and tomorrow at the start of the game we will be 100 per-cent.

“When you talk about numbers, statistics, you have to be objective. We are the intruders in this group but we are here and we want to play. We want to leave the pitch with our heads held high, knowing that we have given everything.”

Italy drew their opening game of the campaign at home to Germany on Saturday but they lost their most recent meeting with Hungary 3-1, albeit back in 2007.

There are also a further four games in League B and League C in the Nations League on Tuesday.

Montenegro hit the road to face Finland at 17:00 in Group B3 (Match betting – Finland 19/20, Draw 11/5, Montenegro 16/5), while Bosnia and Herzegovina host Romania at 19:45 in the same group (Match betting – Bosnia and Herzegovina 11/10, Draw 9/4, Romania 13/5).

Meanwhile, all four teams in Group C1 are in action at 19:45 with the Faroe Islands hosting Luxembourg (Match betting – Faroe Islands 3/1, Draw 21/20, Luxembourg EVS) and Turkey travelling to Lithuania (Match betting – Lithuania 11/1, Draw 9/2, Turkey 1/4).
