Today's Horse Racing Odds: Friday 13th May

It’s a busy Thursday of racing action across the UK and Ireland, with no less than eight meetings taking place, including the return of the Racing League at Doncaster.

The first contest of the day is due off at Nottingham at 13:00 and the seventh and final race there is scheduled for 16:00.

Yarmouth’s seven-race card gets under way at 13:40 and finishes up with the 16:40, while the meeting at Brighton starts at 13:50 and the last of seven races from the South Coast venue is due off at 16:55.

In the 15:50 at Brighton, Betfred’s Extra Place promotion is available, paying three places, and Girl In The Picture (5/2), making her Brighton debut, will be going for victory after winning off today’s mark at Bath back in May.

Sandown’s evening meeting begins at 17:36 and there are six races, culminating with the 20:18.

Betfred’s Extra Place promotion features in the opener and Bad Company (7/2), who won this race last year, is again expected to contend, while Study The Stars (4/1) is in good form so will also be one to watch.

Study The Stars followed up a second at Chepstow with victory at Newbury last time out so may take some stopping today if in a similar mood.

The Racing League is back with the opening night getting under way at Doncaster at 17:40 and finishing up after the seventh race at 20:40.

The format of the competition has been changed for the second year with just seven regional squads – Ireland, London and The South, Scotland, The East, The North and Wales and The West taking part.

Leonna Mayor’s Yorkshire team will hope to get off to a good start in the first race with Copper And Five (12/1) – who won at Doncaster last summer before following up at Ripon and Redcar – expected to be in the mix, despite the fact Ruth Carr’s charge has yet to taste victory in six starts this season.

There’s also an evening meeting at Ayr later, with a six-race card beginning at 17:53 and finishing up after the 20:32.

The Irish action on Thursday comes from Leopardstown (16:45-20:25), where there are eight races, and Sligo, which has seven between 17:00 and 20:05.
