Today's Horse Racing Odds: Monday 7th March

Tuesday’s UK racing action comes from the meetings at Sandown, Newcastle and Wolverhampton with the first jumps race due off over the turf at Newcastle at 13:00.

Several of the eight races from the north east track today have been designated ‘Extra Place’ contests by Betfred and, in the 14:05, they are paying four places.

Smokey The Bandit (13/2) was a runner-up at the course last time out and will hope to contend again but he’s now carrying top-weight, so Economic Editor (5/1) may be the better option.

He’s yet to win over timber but finished a narrow second at Wetherby last month and, with cheekpieces going on, this presents a good opportunity for victory.

Sandown’s Tuesday event gets underway at 13:50 and there are six races with the finale set for 16:40.

Betfred are paying out on three places in both the 14:55 and 16:05 and, in the first of those races, Doukarov (3/1) will hope to continue his recent impressive form. Doukarov won at Newbury in December and was then placed in three subsequent runs, including a good second back at Newbury last month.

Wolverhampton’s all-weather evening card is due to start at 17:00 and there are seven races from the Black Country venue, culminating with the last at 20:00.

In the second race at 17:30, Betfred’s ‘Free Bet If Second’ promotion is available and C&D winner Divine Connection (4/1) could well get the better of her 11 rivals, even though it’s been 12 runs since her last win.

She was a good second of eight over 7f at Southwell just five days ago and will aim to go one better today.
