Woodbine stages two Grade 1 races on Sunday evening

North American racing fans have 10 meetings to look forward to on Friday, with nine cards from the States and Woodbine providing Canadian action.

It all gets going at 17:40 when Laurel Park hosts the first of 10 races, with the meeting running through until 22:53.

The opener is one of two contests on the card that feature Betfred’s Extra Place Race offer and could be one for Never Free (18/1), who has scope for improvement after finishing second over C&D on her last run.

Next to Woodbine, where they go off eight times between 18:00 and 21:43. Both races that bookend the card carry the Extra Place, as does the 19:02, a Maiden Optional Claiming, where Crystal Crescent (11/4) should be respected, having backed up a recent win with a second-place last time out.

There are 10 races at Saratoga, with the opener at 18:05, one of four Extra Place affairs on a card that concludes at 23:13.

Another of those is the 22:39, and could be there for Set Piece (SP). The six-year-old won a Grade 2 at Pimlico and May and looks the class act in the field.

Ellis Park hosts eight races between 18:50 and 22:10, while they go off on nine occasions at Gulfstream from 19:55 to 00:12.

The 21:02, 21:38, 22:12 and 23:08 all carry the Extra Place, and the in-form Dem A Wonder (10/11) is one to look for after four wins from five starts in lower grades. Rohan Crichton’s decision to step her up might be justified.

Sacramento’s seven races run from 21:45 to 00:57, while there are eight contests at Evangeline Downs from 23:30 and 02:40.

Prairie Meadows’ offering runs from 00:00 to 03:36, while they go off eight times from Lone Star between 00:35 and 03:51.

Finally, to Fairmount Park, they have seven races in Illinois, with the first off at 01:30 and the finale scheduled for 04:18.
