US Horse Racing Odds: Wednesday 4th May

Belterra Park

The midweek US racing action comes from seven tracks, including Belterra Park and Tampa Bay Downs.

It’s another busy day stateside with Wednesday’s first race getting underway from Tampa Bay at 17:25, with the nine-race card in Florida set to conclude with the 21:25.

The second meeting to begin is at Belterra Park at 17:35 and they run there until the eighth and final race at 21:05.

The eight-race card at Thistledown is next on the agenda, with the action there running between 17:50 and 21:20, and in two of the later contests, at 20:20 and 20:50, Betfred’s ‘Extra Place’ promotion, paying out on three places, is available.

In the first of those two races, Sweet Empire (SP), who has yet to win in 23 outings but has been placed five times, may just get herself into the winning enclosure after an encouraging fourth-place finish at Mahoning Valley over this same 6f distance last month.

Will Rogers Downs stages nine races today, starting at 19:00 and finishing up with the 22:54. The 20:28 is another of Betfred’s designated ‘Extra Place’ affairs, and it’s one which the improving Kaleo (SP) may be the one to watch. He’s only had two runs but in the second of those he was beaten by just a neck at this very venue over 6f last month.

Horseshoe Indianapolis is next up with nine races between 19:28 and 23:32, while the nine-strong meeting at Evangeline Downs (23:30-02:40) takes us into the early hours.

Finally, Charles Town has eight races scheduled between 00:00 and 03:17 with Jess For Kicks (SP), who has been placed in three of eight starts and has recently had two runners-up places, appearing a leading contender in the finale.

A win certainly looks to be just around the corner for Kevin Joy’s charge after she caught the eye when second of 10 on her latest outing at Charles Town over a similar distance last month.
